Guess I'll actually start following through on these "TAG" posts. Thanks Angie!! Pretty fun to get to know each other better. This one is SEVEN STRANGE THINGS ABOUT ME!!! I think everyone already knows about my weird things--but I'll dig deep for dirt!!

#1
I love tomatoes. I have eaten them like apples since I was a kid. The best way is with lots of salt. But it gets a bit messy. I love all tomatoe-based things...soups, pastas, salsas, etc. I have a V-8 every morning for breakfast. Actually, it is the Walmart Great Value equivelant of V-8. When I was a kid, Santa would leave me V-8 in my stocking. The "real" stuff--no Walmart immitation back then. I eat canned, diced tomatoes almost once a day with seasoning and parmesan cheese. Kinda like pasta sauce--only no pasta.

I love salt. Did I say LOVE??!! All started when I was a toddler eating homemade salt dough playdough. From there it was the rock salt off the ground in the winter, and the cows salt lick. I would break off a part that hadn't been licked by a cow yet. One day I discovered bullion cubes and I have been an addict ever since. My mom couldn't keep the cupboards stocked with enough bullion my entire life. But..they must be Wylers brand. Kids I used to babysit still remmeber me eating their playdough while I babysat. Yes, yes, I've had bloodwork done multiple times over the years--all is normal. (Physically anyways!!) As a sidenote, I have gone almost all of 2007 and 2008 without a bullion cube!! And, FYI, I have salt in a true form right here at my computer. A big chunk of a Halite rock I got from my Dad. I just give it a lick every now and then!! Sometimes my kids run off with it, thinking it's quite a treasure--looks like a huge crystal.

I don't cook. I mean, really, I don't. I've been married 14 years and have never made fried chicken, pot roast, roast beef, etc. I tried mashed potatoes once--probably never again. I have made lasagna a few times and I can boil a mean pot of pasta water!! I'll do a casserole now and then. My poor husband!! With a family of chefs, who knew I didn't cook!! Well, nobody knew--not even me!! I do organize the freezer meals groups every once in awhile to stock my freezer with meals. I CAN cook, just FYI. I just DON'T cook. This week I made 50 freezer meals to exchange with other women. Looks like Darin will have my version of a "home-cooked" meal at least 50 times in the next year.

I collect children's books, but rarely read most of them. I have literally hundreds and hundreds of them!! Once I had a book sale at my house and sold every book for anywhere from 10 to 25 cents and I made $100. That didn't make a dent in the books I have!! One day I want to write children's books. And for now, I'm just trying to get around to reading even a portion of them to my kids. I will buy multiple copies of books I love if I see them at yard sales and the DI.

I hate jewelry. I guess I mean I hate wearing it. I have never had my ears pierced. For the first 8 years of my marriage, I took my wedding ring off at night. Then when Logan and Ellie were born, I kept scratching them with it--not to mention having to wash and lotion my hands thirty times a day. So, the ring took early retirement. This past February I thought maybe I'd wear it for our anniversary overnighter. The next day, after we drove two hours home, we had a message from the hotel asking if we had forgotten anything. I couldn't think of a thing I was missing. Yep, you guessed it--my WEDDING RING was left by the bathroom sink!!!! That's how much I do not wear jewelry!!

I like to organize, but hate to clean. People always say my house is so clean. What they mean is that it is neat and tidy. Not clean!! I mop maybe once every 8 weeks--and by mop, I mean I give my kids two wet rags and tell them to "skate" on the kitchen floor. I kick stuff under my fridge and stove all the time. I used to kick stuff under the basement door--can't do that anymore now that it's a finished basement!! I pour bleach into the toilets often, so I don't have to actually clean them as often. My blinds are disgusting--I have MAYBE cleaned them once a year since we lived here--and I think that is an exaggeration. You can almost ALWAYS write in the dust on my piano, dressers, etc. Who cares???!!! It is not worth my time to spend it cleaning, only to let it get dirty again. Laundry and dishes are enough of the never-ending dirty it/clean it routine!! If cleanliness is next to godliness--well then, I'll save you a place by the fire, down under my friends!! And you all think I have a clean house!!! HA!! That's just my obsessive tendancies coming though and my nerves requiring a neat, organized, clutterless environment. I never said anything about needing it clean!! I got the neat-freak stuff from my mom. I grew up in a spotless home and loved it. But--my mom was also clean. She would roll over in her grave (actually, I guess she'd do underwater flips in the ocean--that's her grave), if she knew that not only do I not vaccume daily--I hardly vaccume monthly!! All I have to say is--WHATEVER!!! WHO CARES!!!

Everyone knows me as a pretty social, talkative, outgoing person. I really never shut up--even with this blogging and e-mailing. And I love all the conversation I create. But....I also LOVE to be alone!! I love that solitude lets me get deep in thought to ponder "stuff". I can think more clearly about important things in life when there is nobody else around. Especially because if there is nobody there--then I am quiet!! I am my biggest distraction sometimes!! Often I don't want to go to church because I want to be alone there. Just an invisable me, listening to the teachers and speakers, who can't see me. Yep, I am weird!!
OK, there you have it!! Seven strange things about me. Now--I tag anyone who reads all the way through this post and actually learned something they didn't already know. That's most of you!! I mean honestly, who knew I kicked stuff under the stove so I didn't have to sweep it? And..who knew I had a book sale? Right--very few of you. Now YOU ARE IT!!!

Miriam - you and I are TRULY kindred spirits. I also wrote on my blog tag how I hate to cook (but CAN - just like you). I honestly thought I was the only Mormom mommy who doesn't cook. And I also wash my floors just like you! I love it!!! AND I also don't like to sit alone in church - although I usually do. I'm going to look for you to sit by from now on! Thanks for being so honest about yourself :)Honesty is so refreshing.
Its always fun learning about you!
My mouth watered as i read about your love for and almost could taste a vine ripened tomato. You are not alone on this cooking thing. When I holler time for dinner the whole family heads for THE CAR!
I love that you love children’s literature. There really is nothing better than a beautifully illustrated and brilliantly told story, and if you can do that in 15 pages, so I child can enjoy it… WOW THAT IS SOMETHING. I would love to see your top ten favorites list. I’m always looking for another good one. You really do have a gift for writing i hope a published children’s story makes it in to your list of accomplishments. That would be amazing,
I loved reading and seeing the pictures from your own little (BIG) miracle. Why anyone could ever choose abortion is just beyond my understanding.
Just a note: you talk of wanting to write children's books...a great start would be a childrens book about seizures since it hits home with you! A great book for children like Logan who suffer from them. I know you would do wonderful with this! Just a suggestion! :)
Thanks for the great cleaning tips. I wish I had the money to go buy you a salt lick at the CAl-RANCH store. It could be a centerpiece on your table.
That is so funny because every time I use bullion cubs I think of you and how much you loved those things when we were little...and you still love them, wow! I sometimes give them a good lick to see if there is something I am missing...and there never is! I love that you kick stuff under your fridge and stove too. There are not many blogs that I actually spend time reading the entire blog, but you've got talent!
It really surprises me that you hate to cook + clean! You pull off such a perfect image-- maybe I'll be able to keep up with the Joneses after all! Ok, probably not, but at least I'm a little closer ;)
