Wasn't it just a few posts ago that I said we figured Logan was done having seizures?? Guess I should have knocked on wood!! Early thismorning he had a seizure. Just before seizing, he always lets out a yawn/cry. Darin heard it from our room, through a closed door. He shot out of bed just as we heard a big thump--Logan falling off his bed. Sure enough, he was having a grand mal. He had hit his head on his little book shelf when he fell off the bed. Six months ago I took the bedrails off because we figured he had grown out of having seizures. Guess we'll buy a new one!!
So, he is totally seizing--and of all things--I HAVE TO LEAVE THE ROOM!!! I am in such panic mode when that little boy is hurt or sick. I made it to our bathroom and slumped to the floor, not quite fainting. I was in a cold sweat and managed to get my sweatshirt off. The room was spinning, I'm staring at the light, trying not to throw up!!! Our sink has a little drip. It's all I could hear--and it sounded SO loud!! Yep, I was freaking out!!! THANK GOODNESS Darin has been home for almost every seizure Logan has ever had. Just FYI--I have never reacted that bad before!! I think I was taken off gaurd because it had been 18 months since he has had a seizure that we are aware of. I have lots of worries about my little guy recently--and this just put me in a tailspin--literally!! I did pull it together enough to snuggle him for the last half hour of his "aftershocks"
He did have a fever spike right after the seizure--so I guess this one was feberile. But most of his other ones have been as he is waking up, no fever. I can't remember what that type is called. So, I figure there may have been times he has had them that we don't know about, if he just had it in bed, and then slept late that day. He is very groggy and grumpy much of the following day.
His neurologist is calling us in the morning to let us know if we should have him looked at, or just assume he is indeed growing out of them, because it has been so long.
This is the first time we have ever explained to Logan that he had a seizure. He is completely unconscious for the entire thing and for a bit after. He has no clue anything ever happened--he just feels tired and sore. So we explained it to him this time. He kept telling Ellie, "Don't come by me or you'll get the ceasars." Like it is contagious!!! And he can't say the word. I was telling him he had lots of seizures when he was two, three, and four. He asked multiple times, "Did I have the ceasars when I was zero?" "Did I have the ceasars when I was one?" "Now I have the ceasars when I am five!!" "I'll tell my teacher I had to stay home because I have the ceasars." It is SO FUNNY!!!! He doesn't just have ceasars. He has THE ceasars!!
I better teach Ellie to call 911--just in case Logan has a seizure one day when Darin is not home and I have fainted on the floor!!!
If that little man hasn't given me a real heart-attack by the time he is an adult, letting him give his heart away to "another woman" for the rest of his life, will put me in cardiac arrest!! It will come all too quickly!! My sweet "little man"!!!

Gosh Miriam! What a rollercoaster life you live! It's truly a wonder you haven't had a heart attack yet! I'm glad Darin was there- for BOTH your sakes! Definitely time to teach Ellie about 911. I hope he's doing better this morning- and you too! Let me know what I can do to help--maybe take Ellie to playgroup so you two can rest?? Hang in there!
Oh my goodness!! That poor little guy. How much can one little body endure! I hope he doesn't have any more (for his sake and for YOURS! :>) That was so cute how he tried to protect Ellie from the "Caesars".
I'm so sorry Miriam that your sweet little Logan had to go through that. That would scare me to death. Logan is so cute I love that little boy!
Holy Cow Miriam! Poor Logan just endures it all. I would be right there with you in the bathroom. It is so hard to see your babies hurting, especially so uncontrollably. I hope this was the "Grand Finale" of all the seizures. I agree though- Ellie should really have a plan incase of an emergency. She is responsible enough and she would do great! I hope the next few days are back to normal and he can return to himself. I am sorry. We will keep him in our prayers. Love ya!
Miriam, keep your cell phone with you always, that way Ellie can call 911 and you can call any of us more than willing neighbors to be there for the both of you.
Thoughts and prayers for the both of you.
Miriam, I had no idea Logan has seizures. I would have been caught completely off guard too if it had been so long! I am glad he is okay and did not get hurt falling.
Wow, Miriam. I think I would have reacted just like you did. And I think you were wise to inform Logan about what is happening to him during his "caesars". Hopefully he is outgrowing them and you won't have to deal with them anymore. And how sweet that Logan doesn't want Ellie to "catch" them! God love him...
Miriam - I had no idea Logan had seizures, I hope this was his last. He is such a sweet boy and I think it's adorable that he's so protective of Ellie since we all know how bad 'The Caesars' can be. :) Hope Logan's doing okay, please let me know if you need anything at all!
O Man I just read about it. I hope Logan feels better soon. Will keep you guys in our prays.
Oh Miriam, that would be so dang hard I can't even imagine. You are such an amazing mommy! That would scare me so much. I saw a cousin have a seizure once and I was sick for days after, I still have flash backs of it. I can't imagine if it were my own little boy. He sure seems like a sweet heart!
