No skipping Thanksgiving for us!!!

Happy November, all you Thanksgiving lovers!!! This post is for those who lament that fact that Thanksgiving is overlooked. (Hello Dalynn!!!) The stores have Christmas trees out before Halloween. I know, I know--it is so not fair to Thanksgiving. Just wanted to prove to everyone that even though the holiday music starts for me long before the elves appear--I really don't skip Thanksgiving!! In fact, this year I'll be decorating for Christmas later than any year in history!! (For me.) I am loving that some of you already have your lights and trees up!! Wish it was me. But since it isn't, I'll savor the lovely Autumn we are having and enjoy the simplicity of the turkey decor around the house. I'm going to start documenting the decorations around our house at each holiday. I LOVE seeing photos of the decorations I grew up with as a child. Seeing them instantly brings back memories and I can almost feel what it was like back then. I'm hoping it will be the same way for my kids. Here's a look at what we have around the house during the countdown to the festive feast!! Gobble Gobble!!!
I'd like to say I made these "Thanks" blocks. But I was lazy at the sisters craft day, so I bought the set used as the example!!! Thanks Alison.

Above is *our basket of Thanksgiving childrens stories. *The turkey Logan made 100% on his own on November 1st. *Our FHE turkeys with pictures of things we are thankful for on each feather. It's cute to see what the kids cut out as things they are thankful for--toothpaste, Jesus, ice-cream, cats, President Monson, Thomas the train, etc. I think Darin's turkey includes several kinds of animals that can be hunted and golf clubs. One of my feathers has childrens Motrin on it--yes, I am thankful for the beautiful stuff!! *The other photos are the traditional "hand" turkeys from another FHE. *And our Indian family.

Above are *our displays of the little pumkins and squash we got for $0.25 each (The smallest ones) in Cache Valley. The indian corn is from Darin's parents--we store it and use it every year. *The wooden candy corns--same story as the "Thanks" blocks. Too lazy--didn't make them--bought the display one. *The little frogs are a pilgram male and female. *The candy turkeys are a long-standing Jones family tradition. Every year, for as long as anyone can remember, they make gumdrop turkeys, held together with toothpicks. This year we ventured from the norm and used gumdrop fruit slices and Dots candies. Truth be told--the store didn't have large gumdrops and the small ones were spice flavored. The kids would not have liked those.
So, happy Thanksgiving to everyone who is savoring the season of thanks. Here's to the Mayflower, the pilgrams and indians, and Stove Top stuffing!! Here's to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade, pies galore, and going around the table to say what you are thankful for!! The kids are really looking forward to their kindergarten feast and Thanksgiving celebration next week. At school they have been making indian headbands, vests, and collecting food for the feast. That school feast will be happening the day before Thanksgiving. Which also happens to be the busiest travel day of the year. Wish us luck!! And P.S. JOY TO THE WORLD!!!!!!!
