Hey everyone!!! Just a quick note to say I'll be back in the swing of the bloggin' world in a jiffy. We've been out of town for a week for Thanksgiving. Can't wait to get the trip blogged--it was so fun!! We got home last night at 1:00 AM!!! Thismorning I was at the school doing kindergarten art with all five K-classes for four hours, then had a doctors appointment, then got groceries and unpacked for a couple of hours, then had a quick literacy event at the school with the kids tonight!! Whew!! Now here I am blogging at midnight!! My house is still all decked out in Thanksgiving decor. This is the latest IN MY LIFE that I have decorated and been prepared for Christmas!!! I thought the least I could get done tonight was to decorate my blog with a holiday background and music!!! And....the first of many Christmas blog posts this month!! Holiday topic for today--TRADITIONS!!! I'm going to list 10 Christmas traditions I did growing up, or that we have started with our kids. If you read this, you are tagged and I hope to see a similar post on your blogs soon. I love learning about new holiday traditions!!! So please share!!!
Ten Christmas Traditions I love!!!
1- All gifts in stockings are wrapped.
2- All wrapped presents under the tree are opened one at a time while we all watch.
3- My kids get new Christmas PJ's before or on Christmas Eve.
4- Every December we make gingerbread houses.
5- Collect a few new childrens Christmas books seach year--I must have over 100.
6- Last year started taking Ellie to the Nutcracker ballet. Hope to do it every year.
7- I collect nativities. Each year I get at least one new one.
8- Each year I have given my kids an ornament, sometimes two. Last year I let them choose one for themselves at the Christmas store at Gardner Village. Ellie chose a ballerina. Logan chose a golf ball.
9- In Darin's family growing up, the stockings had breakfast in them--an orange, a juice, a mini box of cereal. I'd like to add that to the wrapped gifts in our stockings.
10- In my family growing up, we opened our stockings, had a Christmas breakfast, and then got entirely ready and dressed up for the day before opening all the gifts. Seems like torture--but I loved it that way!!!
I'll be searching everyones blogs for Christmas traditions!! Share share share ideas!!!!
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!!

Glad you are back, I have been having MMM-blog anxiety. We want to see pictures of your trip.
Miriam,
I am glad you are back too. I have been checking your blog to see when it would be updated. I have been a Miriam blog staulker. I love your traditions. I want to copy a few of them I will let you know some of ours. Did you get to see Jen on your trip? I miss her.
I like that breakfast in a stocking idea! It's always hard to fill those things.
Seriously Miriam, it's beginning to freak me out how alike we are!We do most of those traditions too except the cute breakfast one - which is an awesome idea!Oh, and we definately dont get all dressed up before opening presents. My kids would HATE me forever if we tried that, not to mention my husband who sleeps on the couch ALL Christmas Day in his scivvies (sigh...)
