"Let them be Little". Little Ribbony Rascals, that is!!!

Do they look like rascals? Can you see the mischievous look in their eyes? NEVER!!!!
This picture was taken earlier in the day yesterday. The kids were color-coordinated for school, which never happens anymore. I miss those toddler days when I could force them to dress like TWINS!! Had to snap a pic. Who knew I'd need the picture for this post!!

The kids asked me if they could use some of the ribbon in the box of gift wrapping supplies. I hesitated, but decided, "Whatever. Who cares. I bought all that ribbon at a yard sale for less than a dollar. " So, "Yes, you can use it." I payed no attention to them while I was typing e-mails like crazy and trying to find, and print the online coupons I was wanting. I think about the fourth or fifth time Ellie was "fiddling" behind my chair, I actually looked up to see what she was doing. WHOA!!!!

Every room on our main floor had ribbon connecting it to to every other room. I told them no more in the office--so I could at least walk around this room. In the pics below you can see how many times they went around the kitchen table. They even went around the toilet a few times. When I finally made them clean up, we used scissors where we needed to. At first they just started snipping EVERYWHERE!!! Little one inch pieces of ribbon!!! Aaaaahhhh!!! STOP!! Then the rule was that you could only cut where it was stuck--like around the toilet, and the couch and piano legs in the front room. Too heavy to lift to slip the ribbon underneath.
I did get them some dinner and load and unload the dishwasher with the ribbon in place. It's a miracle my kids didn't hear foul language come out of my mouth for the number of times I tripped, taking very high steps from the sink to the fridge, etc. I was letting them leave it all there til Darin got home--they REALLY wanted him to see it. I did warn him on the phone not to just come waltzing in the door or he was going to fall flat on his face.

But, truth be told--I don't mind this kind of mischief. They DID ask if they could use it. And it didn't damage, stain, or break anything. And...it kept them happy and creative for at least two hours!!! All for $1 at a yard sale!! And even with the murmuring that went on in my head while I did the dishes over an obstacle course of ribbon--- I'm still thinking it would have been worth it having paid full price at the store for that ribbon!!!

Now do you see it in their eyes?? Look closely--they are masters!!!

Two ribbony-rascals!!!

That is hillarious. I am with you on the fact that things like that worth letting them do since it was entertaining for so long and no damage was done. What a fun story it will be too when they are older!

Wow what creativity. I think I probably would have lost it. So I have noticed you have connected with a lot of Rancho people. I wondered if you had stay in touch with any that I haven't. I looked at your list and thought maybe Heather D but it was private. Is that Delhoyo?

This brought back all the things you taught us to do when we were little. Like the flour and the penny!! Your kids are adorable! Hope to see you tomorrow!

Holy Crap! That is a lot of ribbon...your children are so creative. They must really trust in your patience to pull off a stunt like that right behind your back! Ha-ha! I totally agree about letting them have fun though! Once, a mother of about 6 told me that if you want to entertain a child, spend a dollar on a cheap roll of scotch tape and let 'em go wild! They'll tape their nose up, lips together, fingers together, hours of entertainment for a dollar...looks like you have that same philosophy!

Where do you find your patience?! I would have had a heart attack!
Thank heavens you're a bargain shopper so it didn't set you back too much!
