Saturday we spent a good part of the day with Darin's brother and family. It was just the perfect day!! The "dads" took a couple of hours to go shoot a new gun--I don't know a thing about the gun--but I did find some turkey target pictures in the van today, all shot up. Must have something to do with the May turkey hunt.
The kids had a great time with their cousins, just running around, playing at the park, blowing bubbles, etc. We had a hot dog BBQ and the day was just relaxing and GREAT!! The highlight for the kids was the traditional jaunt to the lake to go fishing. Darin and Dave made sure all the kids actually "caught" fish. Pretty fun to see their reactions.
Here we have the "Three Brothers", cousins Ben, Jake, and Joshua. True boys through and through. They always give me a heart-attack with the new things they help Logan "learn". And this time was no different. Logan now knows how to go under the bridge where we feed the ducks. It is NOT a big deal, and so fun for him to explore with his boy cousins!! He just has a mommy with an over-abundance of the worry gene!! I truly love it when they hang out together. It was funny to listen to Logan after his cousins left. Everything was "awesome" and he was so COOL!!
Logan: "Mom, at the park I ate two ants."
Me: "No you did not!! Why would you eat two ants!!??"
Logan: "Because Ben told me to!!"
Me: "Were they crawling and wiggling in your mouth?"
Logan: "No mom, I crunch-ted them with my teeth."
Me: "Did Ben eat any ants?"
Logan: "Yep, he ate three."
I have NO idea if Ben really ate three. But Logan definately ate two. He was dead serious and would never come up with that on his own!! A rite of passage for sure!! PLEASE don't say worms is next!!
Look closely at the pics below--Ben and Jake have fish on their lines!!
Here's our Mr. Logan enjoying the fishing. He couldn't figure out why the fish were not biting his line. He had some huge plastic gizmo and no real hook on his line. Six kids all with their own poles and REAL hooks??? I don't think so!!! They had to "catch" the real fish on their daddy's poles.
And here is the icing on the cake of the day!! Little Miss Brielle. My two year old niece who is TOO DARLING!! She really warmed up to me this time and I think we might just be friends from now on. She got a pink fishing pole for Easter and here is her first-fishing-photo-shoot. (Family members will want to click on the image to see all the pics up close!! Too cute to miss.)
And let's not forget the other female cousin of the day. Ellie girl in true Ellie-form, even as she fishes!! These are the only two shots I got of her. Both candids. Both with her striking her "I am 16, not 6" pose!!!
Thanks for the fun day guys!!!
