The first day of summer is not officially until June 21st. And the weather is letting us know it!! We are definitely enjoying spring weather these days. So...just an excuse to leave my very few spring decorations up even longer.

My cute "SPRING" blocks and the nest of eggs below are the only things I left out after Easter. I'll give them another week....and then hopefully the rain will cease and we'll celebrate the start of summer by decorating for the
patriotic month to come!!

We sure have had a rainy start to our summer. But I haven't minded a bit. Usually we skip spring around here and jump right into the heat. So this cool weather is a nice change for this year. The kids started swimming lessons last week, and although it rained some every day--it never rained during the hour of their lessons!! We are crossing our fingers for the same good luck this week. They also started piano lessons last week and they are excited to be learning.
Friday night we participated in a city Family Sidewalk Chalk Contest. We were assigned a HUGE square of the sidewalk downtown to decorate. We only had Darin's cell phone to take pics, so they are not so great to post. We did a big spring picture with a rainbow, clouds, rain, sun, bird, dog, butterfly, apple tree, flowers, etc. It was a great little family activity. After that we picked up pizza and headed to the park to hear a famous yodeller sing. The kids laughed pretty good a some of his stuff. I think I was hoping for The Sound of Music's, "high on a hill was lonely goat herd". Still--he was impressive and it was a good little evening out.
Saturday Darin went on a VERY long hike alone--half the day, to the top of our mountains. He brought the video camera, and you will not believe what he saw.....a HUGE tarantula spider!!! He's got a few minutes of video footage of him poking it a little with a long stick. It is HORRIBLE!!!! So ugly and so disturbing to know they live HERE!!!! And at the top of a mountain that was covered with snow all winter!!

Today has been one of those perfect Sundays that I love. We headed out on a family bike ride and it started to pour down rain and lightning. We cooked together, played with the kids, just hung around doing nothing and enjoying it. The kids skated around the house in their roller-skates, and Darin got the KBYU channel on TV back for me--it hasn't come in for months. So that meant-- Ellie and I watching two episodes of Little House On The Prairie. Of course this episode had to have kissing in it, so I was sure to tell Ellie that they were 18 years old--and she can kiss a boy when she is 18!!! Luckily for now she it totally grossed out by it!!
Happy last week of SPRING to everyone!! Hope you are enjoying it as much as we are. Soon it will be blazing hot and we'll be wishing for rain!!!

I made the spring blocks too! :) I love yours though, so cute! Looks like fun!
I'm loving the rain too! And my Spring blocks are still out on display as well :)
So sad we missed the sidewalk chalk festival! We were going to do a StarWars montage... (surprised?)
We actually had a small taranchula in our front yard about a year after we moved in-- hideous! Haven't seen one since, but we have plenty of black widows! Don't know which is worse...
