So, we all know by now that Michael Jackson has died. I was shocked to see that headline on the Yahoo home page Thursday. I was never a huge fan, but feel sad for his family....and for how his life went so wrong.
Thought I'd share my biggest Michael memory. I was in the 5th grade.....and celebrities decided to take a stand and do something for those in need in Africa. Michael Jackson was among them--and "We are the world" was born!!! I knew every word of the VERY long song---and was sure that my emotion and joining in the singing would somehow help those starving children in Africa.
My singing didn't do a darn thing to help the starving children in Africa. But the song did, the celebrities did, and Michael Jackson was among those who started the now-popular movement of celebrities donating their money and time to those less fortunate in other countries.

Hi Miriam.
I too have been dismayed by the confusion of Michael Jackson's life. I do know what an amazing talent he was however, and as you stated he did so things to benefit others.
I don't know what I did with your email address. I did have it at one time but I guess I didn't save it. So email me at cwmerkley@yahoo
.com We will be at Bear Lake July 16th to the 19th.
That was one of my faves too!
Keep singing- even if it doesn't help the starving children, it brings a smile to my face :)
