Our Baby Pioneers!!!

Six years ago, just after we had moved back to Cache Valley from California...Logan and Ellie had their debut as pioneers. My sister Rachel, was a part of an authentic pioneer life demonstration at the American West Heritage Center. She sewed authentic baby pioneer clothing for Logan and Ellie to wear, including the slips and bloomers that go underneath. They were the talk of the day!! They fell asleep right on the lawn for all the on-lookers to adore!!

They had an authentic pioneer bath. As you can see--Ellie did not like it one bit!! It was a very hot day outside, but still the cool water was too much for her.

In the next picture, I think Logan was expressing how he felt about the fact that he was wearing a "dress". That's how Darin felt about it!! I'm tellin' ya--that authentic pioneer group doesn't cut corners. Baby boys wore gowns back then--so that's what Logan wore.

It was cute for the photo op and fun to have Logan and Ellie on pioneer display that day. But I was definitely born in the right generation. Pioneer mommy-ing was so not for me!!! I can't imagine the diapering, bathing, sewing the clothes, etc. How did those women survive?? No bouncers, baby swings, monitors, pre-made baby food, disposable diapers with wipes, onesies, and on and on!!! Those women are likely looking down from Heaven thinking the same thing of our way of life.

So adorable!! Great pictures they will always have. And I agree about being a modern mom, I think that is why God made me wait so long, He knew I needed the bumbo and the saucer and everything else that makes the job easier!!
