Kids Club Summer 2009 !!!

Summer is officially "over" with the kids starting school tomorrow. So I wanted to quickly get the loose ends of our summer all blogged!! For the second year in a row, the kids participated in a "Kids Club" that myself and some other neighborhood moms arranged. The idea was born last year from the brilliant mind of Jen Arbon!! Thanks Jen--we missed you guys this year!! This year we had eight moms and seventeen kids. Each week, one mom hosts Kids Club at her home for two and a half hours. Another adult is usually on hand to help , like a grandma or neighbor. What this means is that each week--for the seven weeks you are not hosting--you get a chunk of time without your kids. And the kids are actively engaged in fun learning!!

The kids in our club this year were: Logan and Ellie, Brooke and Marcel, Averie and Jace, Jaxson, Sage and Cierra, Paige and Trenton, Ayden and Caislyn, Alyssa and Emma, and Tally and Cabe. They were a great group of kids!!! The themes they got to experience were, Bugs and Butterflies, Safety, Healthy Bodies, Math, Science, Pioneers, Animals and Water Play, and Back-to-school Fun. Thanks to all the fun moms who put in the time and effort to pull this off.

At the end of the last day of Kids Club, we had an ice-cream party. Here the kids are loading their ice-cream with as many toppings and sprinkles as they can possibly hold.

When we hosted Kids Club at our house, we had the theme of "Magical Math". Here are a few friends counting out 100 pieces of cereal. We also made number matching games, did pattern activities, and fractions activities. Making personal pizzas was part of our fractions station. But we ran out of time and the kids had to take their pizzas home with them.

Yea! The tradition lives on! I am so sad I couldn't be there for it this year. Looks like you had some fun activities planned for the kids. Has it really been a year since we did the last one???? Crazy!
