Thank You To Primary Teachers!!

Tonight I was laying in bed with Logan to help him decompress after a bit of a meltdown. I said a prayer and in it I mentioned that we were thankful for his primary teacher. The kids teacher right now is Katrina Young, my good friend. After the prayer Logan was a little emotional and he said. "Mom, sister Young is just the bestest primary teacher ever." He truly meant it. And it is absolutely true. She is amazing with my kids. She knows them and loves them and her calling is so important to her. It is a huge blessing to me that we have her as the kids teacher. (For now anyways.) I had warned her that there may be reverence issues with a certain child of mine. She assured me that her class was always reverent, including my kids. Hhhmmm? Well, today I attended the two hours of primary, as a member of the stake primary presidency. And--she is right!! At the last minute Sister Young was asked to play the piano. So her class sat alone. And they truly were the most reverent class in the room, even without their teacher sitting by them. That is no small thing--and I owe it to Katrina for teaching those kids so lovingly, how to behave in primary.

It got me thinking about all the kids primary teachers. They have had only wonderful primary teachers, and we are so appreciative. They started out in Sunbeams with Brother and Sister Gilson. They are the cherished primary teachers of the ward, and are as patient as people come. Brother Gilson has come to our home a time or two to help give the kids blessings. After that they had Sister May, and Sister Heaton. (The same sister Heaton who is now Logan's first grade teacher.) The kids loved these sweet ladies and were always so excited to see them. They thought it was so great that both their primary teachers lived across the street from each other. What a blessing for Logan to already know his teacher when he started first grade. That woman is an angel!! (More blog posts about her as we near the end of the school year.) The kids have loved having Sister May's daughter, Jackie, as one of their babysitters. This year before Sister Young, they had Sister Izatt. She was so sweet and so aware of what my kids needed in Primary.

I know that as parents, it is our responsibility to teach our children the gospel in our homes. But I feel so blessed to have had such inspired primary teachers for my kids. My kids have learned so much in primary and often seem to catch on to gospel concepts in primary, better than at home. THANK YOU THANK YOU to these primary teachers and workers. Your efforts do not go unnoticed. You make a difference in such an eternal way!!
