Decorating the tree 2010.

We FINALLY got around to decorating our tree and setting up the other Christmas decorations last night and today. At least a week and half past TIME to do so!!!

I let the kids do the tree. But I did do the bow on top. What do you think?? Take it down? Leave it up? Notice the pics during decorating have a red bow. The final product below has a gold bow. Which one is best? I am not a "fancy" tree gal. But I could use a real star!!! For the past several years we have used a dollar store star. This year it is on Logan's bedroom tree. The years before that we used an angel, and it is on Ellie's bedroom tree this year.

Every year I get the kids several ornaments of their own. They have quite a collection. Some hang on our family tree, some on their bedroom trees. One of these times I will make a post about all their own ornamants. We also get a family ornament every year. I started this when the kids were born as well. I figured that when they grow up and move away and take their ornaments with them....I will be sad. But this way I will have ornaments we collected each year of their life as well......for me to keep.

Here are a couple of our family ornaments. The gold family of four we got the year Logan and Elliere were born. The Willow Tree family of four was for 2006. The Santa adoring the baby Jesus was a couple of years ago.... a year we were trying to teach Logan that they are NOT the same person. Whew! I got the little boy and girl dressed up like Mary and Joseph, last year, as a way to remember all these years of Logan and Ellie dressing up as Mary and Joseph.

And for 2010, I picked up this ornament on bainbridge Island at "The Bay Hay and Feed" store. And yes, it is as quaint and charming as the name suggests. And the ornament looks so much like the cottage Shari and Larry live in. Same porch and roof and windows....and green trees!!! Just love it. Merry Christmas everyone. Start an ornament tradition!!
