BOOK BATTLE !!!

Today Logan and Ellie both participated in the 2nd grade Book Battle. Each grade level has several months to read a list of books. Last week all who wanted to participate took an in-class test with questions about the books. Logan and Ellie were both one of the four from their classes to qualify. So today was the big Battle. I was nervous for the kids to be in the competition. Not sure what reactions we may have needed to deal with.

The person to push their buzzer the fastest gets to answer the question. But you don't want to push it too soon, because if you get it wrong, you loose a point. Ellie pushed her buzzer the fastest three times and got all three answers correct. As expected, Logan pushed his buzzer the fastest MANY times. He got lots of answers correct and a good handful incorrect. In the end, Logan actually answered the most questions correct, 17. But he answered too many incorrect, to place as a 1st, 2nd, or 3rd. He held it together better than I thought he would, and clapped for the winner.

I am so proud of both of them for participating and being brave. We were quite last-minute participants, checking out the required books from the library over Christmas break. There was at least one book that Ellie didn't read, and a couple that Logan didn't read. He even answered a question correct about a book he hadn't read!! So all things considered, I think they did great!!!
