The kids have both had a little bit of fun attention at school lately. Two weeks ago Ellie was the "Star of the week" in her class. We made this poster for her teacher to hang on the door all week. Then on Friday Darin and I got to come in and visit with the class, telling all about Ellie. She brought a seashell for each classmate, and her favorite candy to share. Skittles.
Ellie was also nominated for "Club 100" last week, by her teacher, Mrs. Dunlavy. This is a program where teachers write up certificates for students who they see being good citizens, etc. Then these kids get to go to Mrs. Young's office and talk with her and choose a prize. Mrs. Dunlavy wrote about Ellie, "Ellie is always one of the first to volunteer to help her peers." And then Mrs. Young wrote, "You did a lovely job at the Book Battle, Ellie. I was very proud of you!"
This week it is Logan's turn to be the "Star of the Week" in his class. His poster will hang in the hall next to his classroom all week. Last week Logan was also nominated for "Club 100". He was nominated by Mrs. Burge, who was Ellie's teacher last year. She wrote, "I noticed what a good sport you were during the "Book Battle"! Thanks for being such a good example to the other students! Good job on trying hard and doing your best!" I was so appreciative of her noticing and nominating Logan, and for her reasons. Not winning the Book Battle was very emotional for Logan and he really did do a good job being supportive of the winners.
I am so proud of both Logan and Ellie for doing so well in school and for the times they are good examples for their peers. Way to go kids!!
