In twenty-five minutes it will be 2012. Huh. I am pretty much exhausted, getting sick, and not sure I am caring that 2011 is about to become a memory. It was a fabulous year. I just need a long winters nap!! You see, I had the very odd idea of throwing the kids and a few friends a Kids New Years Eve Party tonight!! Darin was on his way home from a motorcycle trip with Devin...so it was just the kids and I. NINETEEN kids and I!!! The idea started out small. But it grew, as more and more people were not able to come....and in the end WERE able to come.
We partied for four hours, 6:00-10:00. I didn't get a group picture of everyone. The group picture above was taken while parents were picking up and some had already left. This was during the ten minute wind-down, where I made the kids help pick up and then read Christmas books, to decompress before I sent them home.
We had a great time painting salt-dough snowflakes, cutting out paper snowflakes, watching movies, playing Wii, playing toys all over the house, boys chasing girls and vice-versa, and eating LOTS of yummy stuff!! I gave each kid a water bottle with their name on it, and that was it for drinks. Free refills at the sink.
The fun friends who were our guests were Devun and Jordan C., Peyton and Regan B., Wyatt and Ezra G., Payton S., Megan A., Jace K., Tyler and Tate B., Anna H., Zoe M., Emily and Becky B., Marcel and Jesse V., and of course Logan and Ellie.
