Just got home from a girls overnighter to a Deseret Book Time Out For Women event. I went with these three more-than-amazing women. Laura Whipple, Brianne Nelsen, and Becky Johnson were my partners in crime who had to report to "Time Out". I instructed myself to "go to time out until you can change your attitude and have had time to think about what you've done." Isn't that why we send kids to time out? Same thing for adults.
I only took two pictures...two of the times we were eating. Breakfast at the hotel and dinner at Kneaders. Oh yummy place! I'll get a couple more pics from the girls....and then you'll see that I also got to sit in Time Out with my little sister, Naomi, and her absolutely perfect three month old little guy, Cutler. Man oh man I could have taken him home with me!! Naomi was with a group of six of her girlfriends. And I also got to spend a bit of time with my sister-in-law, Michele. I love that woman and it has been TOO LONG since we've gotten together!! And another people side note: I ran into Arelia Hyer and her daughter, Holly, at the hotel. Small world!
Now, the line up of music and speakers were not as inspiring as the TOFW I went to in November. That one was just off the charts awesome. This one was really good in a lot of ways, but a little mediocre in other ways. Good thing I was with fun gals who didn't really care!! Michael Mclean was the music man for the Friday evening program. Lots of good ole memories of that man and his music from a lifetime ago when I was young. "The message of this moment is so clear, that as certain as the rising of the sun...if your world is filled with darkness, doubt or fear just hold on, hold on, the light will come." Boy can I remember bawling my eyes out as a teenager while listening to that song. I was a dramatic young thing, for sure.
Funny story....Becky, Laura, and Brianne were backstage after the evening show. Someone was taking a picture of them with a certain piano player. The camera was being slow and Laura said, "Hold on, the light will come". And instantly Michael Mclean turned around cause he heard it. Hee-hee. Laura didn't realize what she said!
I came away with a lot to think about and really, a better attitude....so I guess my Time Out served it's purpose. (And the shopping is always therapeutic for me too.)
I'll post later about the great things I learned and my "ah-ha" moments. Time Outs for myself are needing to happen more and more often!!
