Wow....the fact that I have not yet blogged a single word about the kids birthday, is a sign of how nutty my life is these days. I rarely come up for air. I tried to talk to the kids into doing a special thing with just one friend, but they couldn't give up the idea of parties with lots of friends. (I have created a monster for myself over the years!!) I got to bed at 3:30 AM the night before their birthday. But.....we did all the celebrating on one day this year. Usually we drag it out for days....last year for weeks with the baptism. This year....March 24th we celebrated. Period. And THAT was a beautiful thing!!
When the kids woke up we did the family part of celebrating. They saw their party cakes all decorated. (I was just too cheap to pay $30 for each cake from Walmart. $60 on cake? Uhm...no.) I didn't do too bad on my own. The kids wanted "real" cakes this year. A plate of Twinkies just wasn't going to cut it for them anymore. (That is no joke, some of you know darn well that a plate of Twinkies has been their "cake" multiple years. Honestly....what kind of mother am I??)
The kids opened their gifts from us, and cards from both sets of grandparents. They wanted a trampoline. Since Darin and I are still in the debating stage about that...they got this little exercise trampoline for the house. They were totally happy with it!! They got Lava Lamps, which we all think are so cool!!
Darin took them to McD's for birthday breakfast, while I started more party prep. And by that night we were all exhausted, and opted out of going out to dinner. Darin brought home pizza and we all collapsed!! Perfect birthday partying all day long!!
