To say that it has busy in my kindergarten class lately is a gigantic understatement. I tend to go overboard with my job. I love my job as a kindergarten teacher. It's kind of my hobby, so it's what I spend my spare time doing. Recently I have been busy making a class DVD of our year, awards for the students and keepsake books, end of the year assessments and report cards, and fun things like planning a pirate day, puzzle day, game day, not to mention the regular kinder traditions with the school like beach day and field trip to the zoo!! Here is a rare picture of my class on my blog. (I don't like to post pictures of my students on my blog, just as a precaution.) This pirate day picture made the local newspaper last week!! Too bad we had four students absent that day!!

Last week was teacher appreciation week. Two moms decorated my door for me...so adorable!! That is a PTA tradition they do for the teachers at our school. I loved this door and feel like it is so appropriate. My students really have done amazing this year and are ready to leave the nest and fly to first grade.

The parents and students showered me with gifts during teacher appreciation week. I could not believe it! I should have taken more pictures. I got this homemade frozen lasagna and homemade pot holders crocheted in the two colors I said I loved, yellow and pink. This adorable homemade bottle of lemonade...look at that thing!! Homemade hot fudge, cookies, fudge, lots of chocolate and Red Vines, three potted plants, gift cards to The Olive Garden, Cafe Rio, Costa Vida and Subway!!! And a ton more!! Unbelievable!! I have the best set of parents this year and dread seeing them go on to first grade!!

Today was our field trip to the zoo. I got to hang out all day with these crazy fun gals...the other kindergarten teachers...Sharon Jensen, Amy Grgich, and Calissa Engler. They are such a fabulous team to work with!! I drive them nuts because I am a little over-the-top, but they love me anyways!
After the zoo i had my own class assembly in my room with the parents. Of course I get a little emotional at these things. Have I mentioned I LOVE my class?? When it was over I had three of my students in tears not wanting kindergarten to be over!! We have three short more days together....I'll savor every second!! Teachers were given three days this month to have a substitute in order to have time to finish all the state testing and stuff on kids. (The sub is in your room, you are out in the hall testing.) I said no thanks. I was not about to give up three of my last days with my students to a substitute, and parent volunteers can help me get the testing done. And they did!! Yep, i love my job and and am extremely blessed!!!
