ER / Me and my BIG mouth!!

It seems that lately I have voiced out loud my amazement that we had made it over one year without going to the ER with Logan. To several people. Me and my BIG mouth!! What you see in the pic below is a small stick part of a tree branch sticking straight out of Logan's wrist. It's about an inch long with have of it being inside his wrist. Don't ask me how it happened. All I know is that Logan came wailing into the house jabbering something about a bow and arrow made from a tree branch and he threw the arrow to hard. I'm planning to have him show me exactly what happened. Tomorrow.

Of course Darin was not home. So I was trying my best not to faint and to talk Logan down off his ledge of freak-out. He would not let me touch it. Not that I wanted to. But i told him it had to come out, or we go to the doctor. So the poor boy tried to pull it out himself. Three times. He pulled hard. It was lodged under the skin in a weird way and would not come out. The poor boy was torturing himself! So we headed to the weekend Kids Care pediatrician's office. After an hour they told us we'd need to go to the ER. Too much risk involved with nerves and veins I guess. And Logan said his hand was going numb.

So we stopped at home....where we took a few pics together. Luckily Darin was now home too. Darin took Logan to Primary Children's. Thought we'd better go there after the last hand injury fiasco at our local ER.

Darin had to miss the Priesthood session of General Conference. But I am SO, SO glad he took Logan. I would have fainted for sure. Five hours after they left, they are home. Logan is sound asleep in bed without even so much as a band-aid on his wrist! I guess they debated about X-raying it first, but decided not to. They didn't even numb his arm. They told him to take deep breaths while they pried that stick out. See....I would have fainted. They got it out and cleaned him up. No stitches. No band-aid. And hopefully no nerve damage. He's nine years old. i think we've taken him to the ER nine times. Me and my big, BIG mouth!!
