What did we do this weekend? Ellie had a three hour Nutcracker practice. The kids played with friends. Darin and I finally got a place reserved for our Thanksgiving trip with his siblings. I spent a little bit of fabulous time at Rose's place with her cute girls and a couple of good friends. Thanks Rose! I had a girls night out with Amy G. and Crystal M. We shopped and went to dinner and gabbed for hours. Love those gals! It was a blizzard on the way home and Amy's car did a 180 turn....yep, we ended up facing the wrong direction on the 201. It was a nail biting drive home...but we made it. Whew! The kids had a party with Darin while I was out late....they always do!
And over the past few days...things have changed a bit. We took down Halloween and got a bit of Thanksgiving out.

We have just had the BEST Autumn weather ever!! The leaves seemed to last and last. This was my view for several weeks, each time I walked upstairs. I know...just thrilling. But wait for it.....

Our backyard is covered in leaves....and we don't even have a single tree back there! Thank goodness for neighbors who's trees help us enjoy FALL!!
Thursday the air had a significant change. The wind was whipping around all day long. The leaves rapidly disappeared.

And just like that....our weeks of autumn color were gone.....and we woke up Friday morning to this.

Darin got in on the fun with the kids.
And this is what happens when a sled-used-as-a-snowboard goes all wrong. We cleaned up the bleeding lips. Her face has swelled a little bit throughout the day, and I'm afraid it will be quite purple by tomorrow. Poor little dare devil!
I think the snow will melt off later in the week. But the leaves are gone....farewell to the best fall colors we've had in years!!
