This week I was going through some old boxes of childhood stuff. I came across these. Hand crocheted snowflakes that my Grandma Daugs made. She gave us these a couple of times for Christmas, usually with dollar bills included in the envelope. I just love looking at this picture with her handwriting and that envelope.

I also found this. Another Christmas gift from Grandma Daugs. She made us ornaments from old Christmas cards. We hung them on our tree for years, then at some point my mom gave them back to each of us to keep.

Such simple, heartfelt gifts. Treasures to me decades later. What if we gave gifts like this today? Would my kids treasure them? I have my doubts. Sigh....
