Last night was The Dance Centre Spring recital. And for the first time ever, we had two dancers performing! Although, don't let Logan hear you call his class "dance". It's "hip hop". Yep, he took a boys hip hop class this past few months, at the same dance company that Ellie takes jazz and ballet from. It was a great recital with so, so many different numbers and styles of dance. The ballroom class was a highlight of the night featuring teenage boys from our ward. There were cheer and tumbling performances, boys and girls hip hop, lots of solos, as well as all the regular ballet and jazz numbers. Pretty impressive company if I do say so myself! And pretty fun because there are so many people in the audience that we know from the community, school and church. Seems like half our ward was there!

Ellie is just finishing her first ever year in jazz. She has really enjoyed it and it seems to fit her personality. No surprise....jazz is creative and a little bit sassy! She was in jazz 4, which is pretty advanced for one who has never done it before. She is the youngest in her class. She did a great job!

And this little gansta was fabulous!! He was nervous for days and didn't want anyone to come to the performance. His class has been so much fun with boys ages about 6-13. Most of the boys we already knew, which made it even more fun for Logan. And folks...THEY WERE AWESOME!!! Their dance had a lot of detail and footwork and moves they had to learn and memorize and they nailed it!! Lots of cheering from the crowd! I hope to post group pics and video when I get it. When we got home Logan said he wants to keep taking hip hop.....so maybe we will?

And of course there was ballet from this girl. I was a little worried when I saw the dress rehearsal...they had recently decided to make changes to the dance and were still perfecting them. But they performed beautifully! There dance was really fun and they were right on.
At the end they gave all students a trophy to remember this season with The Dance Centre. And Logan finally got his little stuffed animal and flowers.....which Ellie gets so often at performances and he is always mad!
It was especially fun to have Rachel and Shay come down for the performance and sleep over night. These girls got a little nutty eating ice-cream late at night after the recital.
And we are once again at the crossroads of which, if any, dance classes Ellie will enroll in this fall. We have some decisions to make with that girl about what it is she wants to spend her time and talents on. For now, the kids both have a gymnastics recital tomorrow night. Decisions can wait until we all have a minute to exhale, and summer break begins around here.

Shay had such a great time coming to play- Thanks for letting her come. Hopefully we can get together often this summer.
