Oregon Vacation 2013 Day 1.

Wahoo!! Our long awaited for Oregon trip has finally arrived! We so, SO loved our vacation to the Oregon coast last summer and sure wished we could go again this year. And it just so happened that a few months ago Darin found out he had to attend a conference in Salem, Oregon this July. Oh yeah!!! The conference is only for two days, but of course we are stretching it into a week because ....helllo.....it's the Oregon coast!! Day 1 we left bright and early and drove and drove and drove. We decided to take the more scenic route across the middle of Oregon, and figured we'd get a hotel when we were ready to stop driving. Well, there were no hotels. None. Anywhere within hours of where we planned to call it a day of driving and have some fun for the evening. But there was one room left at this resort a few miles out of the way in Redmond, Oregon. The Lodge at eagle Crest. It was different and beautiful and unexpected and perfect!

King bed for the parents, twin trundles for the kids. Golf course right outside.

The pool was outdoors and refreshing and just so unique to be in that mountain-resort setting.

There are three golf course at the resort. We went out exploring and walked up this beautiful little ravine that was part of one of the courses. One minute we'd be hiking in brush and pines, the next we'd be on the green.

They said there are always deer on the courses...and we saw a handful. And we saw this little bunny in the brush.

The view from our hotel room deck.

We went to an hour of church in Redmond and then hit the road again. Finally....almost our destination. We stopped in Newport to walk around the docks, have ice-cream and check for the huge sea-lions. But they had gone south for the summer apparently. Bummer.

This family LOVES the Oregon coast!
