Meet my niece "Baby" Shay

Nope, she's not a baby. In fact she's three going straight on to thirteen. And for some reason we just call her "baby Shay". Shay is the second born child of my little brother, Nate and his wife, Christy. She has an older brother, Wyatt, who is three days younger than Logan and Ellie. And she has newborn twin brothers, Clint and Cole. One little girl with three brothers. She cried and cried when she found out her mom was having two BOYS!! Sometimes we also call her "little Naomi", because she looks SO much like my little sister did as a little girl. Shay has been speaking like she was five years old since she was two. She is such a character!! She started Sunbeams this month in Primary. She is confidant and smart, and I'm sure her teachers will get an earful!!

Here are a couple of the most recent favorite stories about Shay. They are conversations with her mom, Christy. These conversations MIGHT have a little to do with the fact that mom is now taking care of two newborn babies. MAYBE Shay is testing the limits while mom is so busy and not as available to play or discipline. Or MAYBE, just MAYBE...this is just our little "Shay baby" letting her true colors shine through. She makes me laugh my head off!!

Conversation #1

Mom: "Shay, this is your last warning. Do it now or you're going to time out."

Shay (With her HANDS ON HER HIPS!!!): "I can do what I want, damn it!!!"

Post note: I'm pretty sure she went straight to time out and beyond!!

Conversation #2

Mom: "OK guys, you've had a really fun two days with New Years and cousins. But now it's time to settle down and mind me."

Shay: In a very serious tone. "Mom, children DO NOT mind!!!"

Mom: "Yes, children DO mind. They listen to their parents and do what they are asked to do."

Shay: "No mom, they don't. James is a child, and HE doesn't mind. So and so is a child and SHE doesn't mind. See, children do NOT mind."

Mom: "Shay, you better mind me. That's what you are supposed to do. Kids mind their parents."

Shay: In her expert-on-the-subject tone, "Mom, I have SEEN children, and they DO NOT mind!!!!"

Post note: I'm not sure how this one ended. But I do know that Christy had to try extremely hard not to bust out laughing.
