The past three days has given me a whole new respect for moms who are employed outside the home. I have been sooooo spoiled with a husband who is willing and able to provide well for our family. And I have been able to stay home with my little ones. Until now......!!! Of course I can still stay home, but with Logan and Ellie both in school, I am ready to be working towards starting to teach again. SLOWLY!!! One way I am doing that is by doing a long-term substitute job for a kindergarten teacher on maternity leave. She is Ellie's teacher from last year. Amy Kanz. LOVE that gal!!! So...the plan was for her to have her baby near her due date in OCTOBER!!!! The PLAN was for me to spend time in her room over the next month to get familiar with how she does things, the curriculum, etc. BUT......we all know life does not always go as PLANNED!!! So, she had her baby early Tuesday morning, a month early. Her little Natalie only weighed 3 lbs 6 oz, and she was born emergency C-section. Both mommy and baby are doing well, all things considered. Congrats to our beloved MISS KANZ!!!
So...instead of a month to prepare, I had a notice the night before!!! Yikes!!! I feel OK about being able to pull it together in the classroom. We kind of blundered through the first two days. But by today I have lesson plans done, and I am feeling good about what I need to do in the classroom. Everyone at the school has been so helpful. Thankfully there are no major behavior problems in the students, and they are ready to learn!!
The problem---is on the home front!!! Darin and the kids have been great!! The kids have figured out after three days that they will be coming to school just a little bit early with me, and staying just a few minutes late. But SERIOUSLY---when do women get stuff done at home?? These next few pictures will make some of you laugh out loud for JOY!!! I know there are those who are generally disgusted that my house is always so clean!!! I am REALLY hoping those days are not behind me forever. Surely I can get the hang of both worlds. But for now......here are a few firsts for me......
Three days in a row---breakfast has still been on the counter at dinnertime!!!
Three days in a row, the dishes have not been done!! My kitchen sink just does NOT look like this often. I'm hoping it's not the new norm!!

The surprising thing is that I am actually COPING with the messes!!! They are not giving me eye-twitches and anxiety!!! Kind of feels---like life.
I HAD to blog these pictures, because I DO know myself, and I know that this will NOT be the new norm for me. But I might as well document the transition, to prove it happened, and to make all my friends smile!!! It's all ofcourse, still a disaster---and I sit here and blog. But first things first, right!!!???

About the mess, join the club! :)
I feel relief at this very moment! I am sure you will get things under control, but it does my heart good to know that your house looks like mine for even a brief moment.
You go girl! I totally would not have been able to picture your house messy without the pictures...it was ALWAYS perfect!!! Good luck!
Those little kindergarteners are so lucky to have you!
And welcome to the world of working Moms! Yup, two full-time jobs takes its toll. And what gets sacrificed? Sleep.
Wow you are the whole package. What a woman!! You are so brave to take pictures and then post them. thanks for making me laugh, and things will get better.
I don't think I could do - I can hardly keep up and I'm home all day! Best of luck - and I'm sure you'll find a new routine and will work.
If anyone can do it, you can Miriam!
