So, last week while Darin was home with the kids, they made cookies. Common occurrence around our place. Nothing out of the ordinary. When I called home to check on the kids Logan was so excited to talk to me on the phone. He says, "Mom, we made cookies and we even like put all the stuff in a bowl and mixed it. Even flour. You measure it in a cup. And sugar. You measure it. And like chocolate chips out of the chocolate chip bag." Then Ellie's teacher tells me she heard the same story at school. Ellie told her, "We made cookies with my Dad and we even like put all the stuff in a big bowl to mix and measure. And we put in the flour, eggs, sugar, salt, vanilla. EVERYTHING!!!" So, you ask--what is the point?? Here comes the confession. My poor children have only ever made cookies like THIS.......
Betty Crocker makes our cookies. We add an egg and stir. I didn't realize my kids had no clue how to make cookies from scratch until this little experience last week. They never knew you could put those chocolate chips in a recipe--not just eat them straight from the bag!! (Like mommy does so often!!) Now after having finally had "the real thing", Ellie has announced she does not like cookies from the mixes. And therefore we cannot bribe her with them!!! NOOOOOO!! That's what happens when you leave Daddy home with the kids with nothing to do. He gets all domesticated and makes Mommy look bad!!! Can't complain. Maybe he'll become the official family cookie maker. Only next time guys--save me some!!

So cute!! What a good dad.
Mike is the official cookie maker in our house... and he makes them so often that "cookas" was one of the first foods Emma learned to say. Maybe that should have been a clue about our parenting. Hmm...
Miriam, my husband recently discovered these "cookies in a bag." We now have a cupboard full of them :) But ... they do have the school 'boxtops' on each bag -- a bonus!!!
