Way to go kids!!!

Today was the first grade awards assembly at the school. Logan and Ellie both got a certificate for reading 100 books this spring. And they also both received the Presidential Physical Fitness Award!!! Pretty exciting for this non-athletic mommy!! It is not an easy thing to earn the Presidential status. They have to perform at a certain level in ALL events to earn it. In Ellie's class, only three kids received this award, and Ellie was the only girl!! You go girl!! Logan started to get upset after the "participant" and "national" awards were presented to his class, and his name wasn't called. He didn't realize that the best was saved for last. And boy was he excited when he heard his name called!!!

A little background information here is worth mentioning. Ellie did NOT like practicing for these events. She did not like doing the run so many times at school. But it all payed off as she blazed past her classmates on testing day!! (Well, I am imaging she "blazed" past them--I wasn't actually there.)

Would it surprise anyone to know that Logan actually earned this Presidential status all with a BROKEN FOOT!!!!???? His cast was off before the run. But he has still been having a lot of trouble with his foot. We just took him in YESTERDAY, and sure enough--the bone is still not fused together. It has a big crack. So he is back in the brace for three weeks. If that doesn't heal it--back in a cast. Anyways...just one more example of how this boy will do ANYTHING to WIN!!!!!
