"Junie B. Jones" Day!!

The kids are in a Summer Book Club with a few friends. Today it was our turn to host. and the theme was "Junie B. Jones". She is a funny little kindergartner, then first grader. She's actually a little naughty--but the stories are really funny!! So at each book club, the kids do a book report on the book they read from the series.

Today we had Logan and Ellie, Wyatt, Emma, and Tally. It was a ton of fun today--the kids were really into all the activities and "Junie B." stuff. We made Junie B. glasses with pipe cleaners. We played an I-spy game with the cover pictures on all the books, did a Junie B. word search, played a couple of online Junie B. games, and watched someone impersonating Junie B. on You-Tube. The kids made name tag necklaces, writing their names like Junie B. does. First name and middle initial.

We had a Junie B. cupcake-walk. Instead of the "Yucky Blucky fruit Cake" in one of the stories, we had yummy cupcakes with candy fruit on top. YUM!!

We played Hide-and-Seek the Peep game, with a little quacking duck. We didn't have a chick, like in the Junie B. "Peep in my pocket" book, but a ducky worked. The kids loved it. When they would say "yoo-hoo", the duck would quack back.

We also did the old stand-by--BINGO. Each time they got a bingo, they yelled "Junie B." Pretty great little summer activity day. We're looking forward to more book club days!!
