Presidents Day Weekend Get-Away to Cache Valley

Friday we took the kids out of school early and headed to Logan. Here are a few highlights from our long weekend in Cache Valley....
Monday Ellie and I had a mom/daughter date with my sister Amy and her daughter, MariAna. The two little girls had a blast running around together, and Amy and I could chat for days. We took the girls to Sam's Club for pizza and ice-cream, and to the "Dressed in White" store to look at baptism dresses. The girls had a lot of fun trying on fancy dresses. Ellie picked a really beautiful, princess one for her baptism in April.
Logan and Ellie were more than excited Sunday night waiting for some of their Jones cousins to arrive at Grandmas. They had a great 24 hrs playing in the snow and running around the house with a few of the cousins. Grandpa pulled them on sleds behind the 4-wheeler, and Grandma provided all the fun kid-food and fun. We especially liked it that little cousin, baby Eric warmed up to us and kept wanting Darin to hold him. In the past he's never let us hold him.
Friday and Saturday nights the kids stayed with Grandma without us. THANK YOU MARILYN!!! They had so much fun playing with their Daugs cousins, Wyatt, Shay and Ada. Watching movies, playing games, going to Primary with Grandma, having the best kid-food, and generally being spoiled. While they were having fun with Grandma, Darin and I took a little two night vacation in Logan, to celebrate our anniversary. The second night I snapped these two pictures--we stayed in room 308--Darin's all-time lucky number. Yep.
The first night we stayed in a sweet suite with all the bells and whistles. The second night we were just in a regular hotel, but still very nice. Both nights we had free dinner certificates and chose to eat at the same place two times--Hamilton's. We LOVE that place. All kinds of yummy things like salmon, sweet mashed potatoes, Mediterranean pasta, french onion soup, decadent desserts, etc. We loved just spending time in the fun hotels and having down time together. When we were out and about we spent most of our time shopping. Seems like every year around our anniversary we stock up on work clothes for Darin. I love it that he loves to shop.
And shop he did....count them.....eight. Eight. Pairs. Of. New. Shoes. Six of which are black dress shoes. When you can get three pairs on sale for the price of one quality pair, you stock up. I think we are all set in the work-shoes category for a few years.
The weekend was perfect and went by all too fast. Before we knew it we were in the car heading back home to the real world, with a little girl throwing-up in a bucket. Gotta love it.
