Here we are again on the last day of another school year. Unbelievable how fast this year has flown by!! How does this happen?? Here's Logan earlier this week at the 2nd grade awards assembly. He got awards for his addition and subtraction facts, and for a perfect semester turning in homework. And this is his teacher, Mrs. Toni Garn. We have completely loved her. She was such a perfect fit for Logan this year. Logan really made leaps and bounds in his emotional behavior in her class. He got all honors all year for his behavior and citizenship. Way to go buddy!! She did so well with him, and is so super organized and consistent. She loves the kids and makes them feel like they are so important to her---just what a teacher is supposed to do!! I LOVE HER!!! We are sad to see Logan have to leave her class.
And here is Ellie girl with the same two awards, as well as an award for 100% on all of her spelling tests for the last semester of school. Her teacher is Mrs. Dunlavy. She is such a good teacher and has such high expectations from her students. She has been perfect for Ellie and has really made Ellie step up to the plate with her potential. Ellie has recieved perfect 4's the entire year in every single area of her report card. (This means all A's.) Super job Ellie girl!! This teacher has no set behavior plan in her classroom. I have never seen this before. But the kids know what she expects and they do it--it is amazing.
Yesterday was field day for the school. Have I mentioned that I WAS FIELD DAY!!?? One of my PTA jobs for the year was to organize and carry out field day. Whew!! That was some serious behind the scenes time. An all day event for nearly 900 kids takes a little doing. Luckily we had so many great gals step up to help out and the day went fabulously. We were nervous about rain--it had rained all week. All month. All spring!!! But we lucked out the day of--no rain!! Cold and clouds, but no rain. I was at the school for ten hours yesterday. I was a bit fatigued by the end of the day. But I had so many compliments on the day. Several said it's the best field day has ever gone. And...one totally sweet woman brought our family dinner last night!!! Unheard of. I love this community!! Same great tradition of the fire station sirening on to the school property and cooking up a BBQ lunch for the kids. Love it.
So ends second grade for the kids. Where did my babies go? And so begins SUMMER!!! Wish me luck!!
