Saturday

Today we.....slept in, Darin went on a long bike ride, we took the kids to Macey's for a free carnival, ran a few errands.......but mostly, we worked on the side yard. Had to add this pic of Ellie-girl. She wears stuff like this and pulls it off like she's a fashion model--boots and shorts. Still lovin' those pink cowgirl boots after several years of wearing them. Twenty-five cents at a yard sale!!!
OK, the big part of the day was spent here. This side yard area needed some serious attention. So we pulled weeds, shoveled and raked things around, and dug out the sprinkler head that was under all those bushes. And put down sod. So this now looks like.....
This!!!! Aaahhh. Not sure what we'll do with the cement slab. Keep the kiddie pool on it, put lounge chairs on it, and one day build a shed on it.
Why do we have a cement slab there?? For the dog kennel that was on it for just one year. So now it's grass, and before it was dirt and a dog kennel. And before that it was all wood chips and the kids play area. That was before the garden boxes too.
And guess what? Before it was wood chips for the play area.....IT WAS GRASS!!! Years ago we actually rented a sod-cutter and removed the perfect grass that was growing on this side of the house. The circle of life, on our small quarter acre of the world, continues.

Huh, I recognize half of those toys... they're in our backyard now! I wonder when we'll tear out our big ol' sandbox and put sod down where it was once grass... :) Crazy how fast the kiddos grow. Little Tornado will be 4 next week!

That's funny that one spot on your yard has changed so much! I vote for a shed. Wish I had one!
