Children's Pioneer Day Parade

This year our stake was assigned to participate in the Days of 47 Pioneer Day Children's Parade. Yep, assigned. Not asked or invited. I never know that was how this parade worked. So, as a stake primary presidency, we decided that we definitely needed a person called to be the "float maker". Diane Kelsey got the job and did a fabulous job. Our float is a replica of the Historic Bensen Grist Mill here in Stansbury. It looks so much like it and the community is excited to use the float for future events. We won one of the few awards handed out, the "Utah award", for having the float that best depicts Utah's history. (Or something like that.) Wahoo!!
The stake primary kids had the option to dress as pioneers, or as sacks of flour. The kids had a great time running around for the hours before the parade started.
Naomi and her girls and Rachel, were in the Utah Authentic Pioneer group at the beginning of the parade. So we got to see them a little bit.
I was definitely born in the right time period. I wouldn't have made a very good pioneer. One day of dressing the part is good for me.
Happy Pioneer week everyone.
