Randomness...

I love my niece Heather...and her blog. Her last post was "Randomness". Sounded good to me. And fun to read back on years from now. So, here's my randomness for today.
1-Lest any of you who read my blog think I have it all together with little to rock the boat that is my world....uhm....my family is as crazy and dysfunctional as they come. (The family I came from, I mean.) It has been one heavy day in the family drama department. Give me strength!!
2-Do you ever tell you kid that it's time for his friend to go home and for said kid to eat dinner...and then your kid has magically disappeared and is at someone elses house...instead of eating dinner? And you have to ride your bike around the neighborhood to figure out which house?
3-Even though kids disobey.....I am so happy to be a mom and have my own little family. The tone of my voice my say otherwise quite often. So, just so ya know.
4-Today at the parade a friend asked if I ever yelled at my kids. Does she mean like ever in an hour? Or like how many times a day? Is she suggesting there are moms that don't? Oh yah, there are moms that don't. My mom never did. NEVER. DID. EVER. YELL.
5-My mother was a saint in so many ways and I miss her terribly. Especially on days like today with my family. (The one I came from.)
6-I should be packing. Instead I blog. How many of you blog or get online to avoid what needs to be done?
7-I just ate "bowl full of cherries". I really did. In hopes it will remind me to not take life serious.
8-I want to paint the office that I now sit in. What color? And...what if I painted my family room turquoise? Painting is in my future, I can feel it.
9-Today Logan told me, "Mom, nine and four are weird numbers. They just look weird." Huh.
10-Ellie spent hours on her own in the kitchen today singing and humming and doing a painting project and playing in the sink. I LOVE. LOVE. LOVE. it when my kids are home with no friends, doing stuff like that. (Side note: She couldn't play with friends for disobeying yesterday.)
11-What ever is happening in your life, good or bad, "This too shall pass". So if it's rough right now, take heart. And if it's good right now, savor every moment.

My family is crazy and dysfunctional too! It must be more common than we think. But a non-yelling mother is a rarity indeed. I miss her too.
