Goin' to the zoo with a bunch of monkeys!!!

This week our Summer Field Trip With Cousins was to Hogel Zoo. We had Christy and kids, Naomi and kids, Alison and kids, Heather and kids, Rachel, and Naomi's friend Wendy and her kids. I love that the kids were all into following the map.
A few of the kids really loved sticking their heads out the prairie dog holes for an up-close look. We checked out all the animals, wishing they would have had the penguins and hippos. But the zoo is under construction right now, so some things are missing. We had a picnic in the shade by the elephants, played on the playground, and rode the train.
The family coming down from Cache Valley had some big traffic delays. It was quite hot some of the time, and sprinkling some of the time. Avery was sick. But....even with those small issues, we had a great day. We watched the bird show, which I have never done with my kids. Crazy that we have been to the zoo so many times and never seen this fabulous show. A giant owl swooped right over me and Logan. It almost felt like the feathers brushed us. It was amazing.
After a few hours at the zoo, we headed down to Liberty park to cool off on the rivers and fountains. The kids had such a great time. They were all into sitting in the smaller rivers to make dams, and then letting the water go all at once. Fun stuff.
Clint and Cole loved, loved LOVED the water!! They sat right in the streams and were as happy as little larks. They kept leaning down to drink the water. So cute!!
Thanks for driving all the way down, everyone. Super fun stuff!!
