It's been a little busy around here, and my blogging is falling behind. But I couldn't skip a post today. First day of THIRD GRADE!!! Here are my all-grown-up third graders!! Ellie, the fashion queen, doin' her own hair. And Logan--same clothes, T-shirts and sport shorts, just newer. Gotta have a new Mario T-shirt!!
They both had a great first day, despite Ellie being a little sick, and both of them being pretty nervous. They were all excited this morning though. They have fabulous teachers, and we are hoping for another great year!! Third grade is big stuff--much more to learn than in second grade. So we will be busy. They both had a father's blessing from Darin last night to start the year off right.
And, here we have the annual backpack photo. Logan chose an all blue pack with lots of extra pockets and straps. Ellie especially wanted one of these sling backpacks this year. That girl knows what's hot!! Too bad her mom has no clue!!
Cheers to the beginning of third grade!!
And in other news.......I AM A TEACHER!!! Yep, I was hired this past Thursday to teach a morning session of kindergarten. So, part time. I have been waiting for this very position for a couple of years. This summer I passed up the opportunity to teach full time, knowing that would not b e the best for our family. But the stars have aligned and now I will teach!! So far it has been more than full-time though!! I have spent hours and hours trying to transform the old teachers lounge into a classroom. It's coming right along, and will be fabulous when I am finished with it. I look forward to a couple of weeks from now when this job really will be part time. But for now, I feel like the full-time road-runner!! Beep, beep!! Not to mention the big spender!! Good thing we'll have a little extra cash from my job....to pay for my job!! FYI, where we live, teachers buy EVERYTHING they need for the classroom. All the kids supplies---crayons, glue, scissors---you name it, we buy it. And our own stapler and staples, and paints, and things to hang on the walls, and name tags, and containers and paper towels and kleenex....Ev.Er.Y.Thing!!!! Like I said--I'll need this job to pay for this job!!
Blogging may be slow for me for the next couple of weeks. But not to worry, I will be back in full swing in no time.

Yay!!! It was so fun to see you today at assessments - I think you made Addy feel right at home. I'm so excited for you to finally get what you were looking for!
Congrats on getting the part time teaching job you wanted and waited for. Liam started this week. He got the same Kinder teacher that Aaron had. And although I love her and think she's great sometimes I think she's not very patient with the kids. I thought it was just Aaron's class because they had a few difficult kids but I was in helping the other day and she is sometimes short with them. But its usually the ones not doing what she wants, so I guess they will learn quick to pay attention. Hope you have a great year, as well as your kids! And can you believe Lexie started middle school!
I honestly can't believe how old our kids are!! What happened to our little Joy Schoolers?! Love Ellie's necklace + boots. She really is quite the fashionista! Excited for you teaching again!! So lucky you got the perfect position--you deserve it!!
Wow Miriam, Congratulations! How exciting to be teaching again. I got my list of what the kids needed for school supplies. It came to 150.00. There should be some happy medium for parents and teachers. School is expensive. You will be great!
