Darin and I reached our 17th anniversary on February 9th. Man ALIVE that makes us sound old!! In fact when we were in Cache Valley, Devarie asked me, "now what is it, eleven years?" Uhm...no Devarie...SEVENTEEN!!! Darin brought me an amazing bouquet of flowers that lasted several weeks. But we celebrated on our actual anniversary by me going to a PTA meeting and Darin going to an Elders Q. meeting. Pretty romantic stuff!! Ten days later we had our "real" anniversary get-away. Pretty much a repeat of last year. The kids stayed with Grandma for two nights (We LOVE you, Marilyn!!!), and we stayed at two different hotels, ate out at great places, shopped til we dropped, went to a movie, etc. We actually hooked up with Naomi and Naomi and Nate, and Amy and Brian for dinner and games one night. That was great.....and the only documentation I have of the entire weekend!! Here we are...me and two of my fabulous sistas!!
FYI, Amy is engaged and is marrying the love of her life in one month!!!
And FYI, this little heart-breaker was with us as well. Naomi's little baby Cutler has nearly stolen my heart. You can see why!!!
That night we were all playing a compatibility game for couples. At the end we decided to make up our own little round. We had to each choose the five pictures that best represented our relationship. The hope is that your partner chooses the same pictures...or at least some of them. Well, Amy and Brian...all sappy and in love and engaged....decided to choose like ten pictures instead of five....and they got them all right!! Naomi and Nate got zero right. Darin and I got zero right!!! Huh. Seventeenth anniversary couple gets zero. Engaged couple gets 100 percent.
That game is so not accurate!!
We spent Sunday night at the Jones plantation. Always fun to see everyone. Marilyn is cleaning out like crazy, since they will be leaving on a mission really soon. We are excited to hear where they will be called to serve. It was a little bitter-sweet spending time there. I am so happy for Sam and Marilyn to get out of here and do what they really want to be doing...it's time for them to live their life without taking care of all of us. But it was really quite sad to think that we may not see them for two years!! The kids won't see them for two years??!! They won't be at the house when we come visit. Weird. And sad. And still pretty awesome!!
Here's to the next phase of life....marriage for Amy and Brian, Mission for Sam and Marilyn, exciting moves for some of the siblings, and life as usual for my little family in Stansbury Park.
CHEERS!!
