Oregon Coast Vacation: Strange, sad sight.

One of the times when we were down at "our beach", I could see the waves bringing something strange in from the sea. I lingered around to see what it was. Darin and the kids were long gone down the beach without me, while I waited.

Slowly, with each wave, it came closer and closer. Sometimes disappearing and then bobbing out of a wave again.

A rusty metal and plastic box of some sort. I think a mini fridge.

With Japanese characters for the writing next to the dial. My heart sank. This was almost certainly a tiny remnant of the tragic tsunami. Random Japanese stuff has been washing up on the west coast beaches for months. And this same day, a huge 132 ton, 66 foot long concrete and metal dock from Japan washed onto the shore in Newport, 15 miles south from where the fridge floated in.

Somebody's fridge now rests on the pristine, trash-free Bella beach.  Who's fridge? Did they fair better than their belongings? I hope so.

Another reminder of how very blessed we are.
