Last night Ellie got to be her Dad's date for a Westminster Gala Scholarship Fund Event. It's a pretty fancy shin-dig, and this mama wasn't quite up for the cocktail formal attire, the heals, the chatter, etc. So, I had the grand plan of Ellie getting to go. Which she was thrilled about, of course! She loved it! There was a silent auction and she had fun bidding on some items, even though they didn't win. She was, of course, the only child at the event, so got plenty of compliments and attention. The food was a bit fancy for her tastes, so they made a late night stop at KFC on the way home for some chicken for the girl. She did however, love the fancy chocolates at the place settings, and had several. She tried the caprice salad and nearly gagged on the herbed tomato, but she didn't dare spit it out in front of everyone.

This little girl has had this man in the palm of her hand since the day she was born. Daddy and daughter....nothing quite like it.
They had a photo booth at the event.

I'm glad I stayed home. The event would have been fun enough for me....I love auctions. But it would fade into the blur of all the other work events we've been to. But this will stand out as a special memory for Ellie and her dad. And....Logan ended up staying late at a friends for a movie and popcorn....so I had a few hours to myself. I read a book. I never do that. It was great!! And....Friday night Darin took the kids to the ward camp out. I stayed home. More time to myself. I really liked that. I watched a movie....."The magic of Belle Isle". I really liked it! I slept in. I really liked that too. My husband is awesome!! My kids are lucky!! I am luckier!!

Oy! What a marvelous idea. Wish I'd thought of sending a daughter, or two, to all of the work functions that I've attended over the years. Recently, I just announced that my time was up, in that realm...no longer doing the shindig thing. So peaceful at home, without high heels and useless chitchat.
