Travis Weaver.

This past week a childhood neighbor and friend passed away suddenly. Travis Weaver. He was six years older than me and my best friends older brother. I went to Cache Valley Sunday to attend the viewing and the graveside service on Monday. So very hard for his wonderful parents and siblings and for the three kids he leaves behind. But even though there is nothing good about a loved one dying, there were definitely tender mercies involved and his family felt of the love that so many have for Travis.

Like with most funerals, it is a rare time that you reconnect with some of the people from your past. The Weaver family was a very, VERY big part of my childhood and are considered best friends of the Daugs family. Although it was not the ideal reason, it was so good to see all of these guys at the same time. Tiffany, was my best childhood friend and remains a best friend today. Teresa was Naomi's best friend. Our families did so much together and it was fun and funny to recall all the things we did together as kids.

One of my most vivid childhood memories of Travis is when he "saved my life" in my mind, from Tiffany. She was trying to kill me. Yes, she was my best friend. She had me locked in her parents shower and was spraying aerosol hairspray over the top so I couldn't breathe. I was screaming and Travis came to my rescue! My hero!
It was chilly and overcast at the graveside. But a couple of times the clouds broke for a minute and the sun instantly warmed us all. Those moments were too perfect to be coincidental. I think perhaps someone was sending their love, and a sign of hope.

My thoughts continue to be with our good friends, the Weavers. Travis will be missed.
