The famous, long-awaited for, 5th grade EGG DROP was today!! The kids looked up ideas online with Darin, and I asked around about what splattered and what worked. Ellie was thinking about packing her egg in cereal, but in the end she decided to go with bubble wrap just like Logan. We practiced the other night, in the dark, with Darin on the roof, throwing the thing up in the air as far as he could. We followed the size rules...only a 4X4X4 box and any parachute could only by 12X12. So we were a little surprised to see all kinds of things bigger than that today! I guess those parameters were just suggestions? We measured that cut portion of a Walmart bag parachute with a ruler and the kids made sure we were not a quarter of an inch over 12 inches!! I guess following the "guidelines" pays off! They both had survivors! Happy 5th grade day at our house!!
