It has been mighty chilly outside this week!

Which made for the perfect time to stay all cozy inside doing holiday stuff I've been meaning to get to.

Yesterday I gave the kids their surprise LEGO advent calendars....an entire week late! But they were more than happy to open seven little doors the first day!!

We made gingerbread houses. Which took pretty much an eternity. Three hours. We needed more frosting...the kind that turns to stone. Well, my hand mixer died mixing it. Then I tried the blender. Bad idea. We resorted to the glue gun. Only we were out of glue sticks. So the kids went in the snow to FIVE neighbors homes to ask for small glue sticks. In the end they came back with a bottle of Super Glue!! Why didn't I think of that! It's my go-to adhesive for everything!!

We made the house smell good with cloves stuck in oranges. I told the kids I did this with my mom once when I was a kid, but that mostly they did it in the "olden days". Which led to Logan asking me, "Mom, did they have electricity when you were a kid?"
Perfect cozy weekend! (Well, almost perfect. Darin is out of town and Logan is coughing like crazy upstairs in bed as I type.....but at least those two facts kept us home for two days!)
