Denver with Darla!!

A couple of weeks ago I took two days off work, and went to Denver, Colorado with Darla, for five days! It was SO, SO great! Darla had to go for a job interview and invited me so she didn't have to go alone. At the last minute I decided to just GO, and I'm so glad I did! It was a great getaway for me, and fun to spend time with Darla for a change. It was cold in Denver for sure...snowed a couple of the days.
We took a tour at shopped at the Hammond's candy factory. It was just really FUN! We were pretty much two kids in a candy store!

We toured the Molly Brown house/museum, which was amazing! She really lived here in this house for years and years, with her very wealthy husband. In the 1970's the home was going to be torn down and some locals saved it and it is now on the National Historic places list!

Amazing architecture and features.

No cameras allowed inside, so I snagged these pics from online.

Margaret "Molly" brown was really a fascinating, incredible woman. She was always fighting for womens rights, and the underdog. I liked learning that she was often helping the railroad and mining families stand up to the owners.....and her husband was one of the owners!! Loved learning more about her.

We went to the Cathedral Basilica of Immaculate Conception. Amazing, impressive building.

I've never seen so much stained glass before!

And....I loved these bells playing in the tower.

We went to the downtown Denver German Christmas market. Awesome! It was so fun to see them serving sausage and cabbage, and other German things that are familiar from my childhood! I bought the kids little stacking dolls, (for Christmas) that I think are actually Russian. They have always wanted those things!

We went to The American Girl store...just because it's awesome!!

I HAD to eat at Wahoo's twice while we were there. My favorite California fish tacos are now in Colorado. Why don't they come to Utah?! I took a pic of the treat Stash Darla emptied out of her backpack! She had us all set in the salty and sweet departments! and...that bed was my home base for four nights! Nothing fancy...but all mine!

We took a drive to the Denver temple grounds and walked around for a few minutes. But is was SO cold, we didn't stay long.

And...I went to bass Outdoor World twice. Once alone and then back with Darla. This place is so cool! I like it better than Cabella's. Wished the kids could have seen it. So kid friendly....this amazing carousel was free, and they had a great area set up with Santa.....including this talking reindeer. Really, he talked. freaked me out at first....an employee can see it and speaks for it.

Free kids shooting game. I totally smoked Darla! Twice!

Above the entrance it says, "Welcome fishermen, hunters and other liars"!!

We did some serious secondhand shopping! Twice at different Good Will stores...where I scored these awesome retro boots for Ellie. And half a day at Antique Row...where I found these great tiny pilgrim figurines. the perfect souvenir for our November trip.

Love Denver. Loved going with Darla!
