Ellie has asked me twice if we can change their bathroom. She says duckies are for babies. I am holding back the tears at her maturity!!!! It would be fairly easy to do the bathroom. I have never painted, so I'd only have to remove the wallpaper border. But then what in the world do I do for a bathroom theme?? Fish?? Everyone does fish!! What about just a color scheme?? I am SO clueless when it comes to decorating.
Logan's room is bright red and blue with a transportation theme. I think it's cute and he doesn't complain about it. But should I help him have a more mature atmosphere? He has asked multiple times for a "Wiggles" bedroom. Oh help!!! That is not moving in the more mature direction. What could I do to his room to just give it a little face lift for a "big boy"??
Ellie's room is the one I want to change the most. Can anyone imagine my being able to update it and give it a fresh look while still using the little dresses wallpaper border?? I'm thinking of painting over the light pink lower walls to a bright pink--maybe go the flowers and butterflies look?? Add in some bright colors?? OK, the border has to go, I know. Should I do it? Should I let it go another year til they are seven? OK, did I just type that out loud?? In another year they will be seven??!!! I will now go cry myself to sleep!! I guess I will NOT update their rooms--I will go back to the pastel stars and moons for Ellie and the bright Sesame Street for Logan, that they had til they were almost three. What's so bad about a ducky-themed bathroom til you are a teenager!!!???

I don't think Logan or Ellie's room is too babyish (well maybe the baby clothes hanging up) but you could just give them a little update without changing everything. Other than that, wait until they make a big deal about it.
Yes, I would change the bathroom, maybe just a color scheme would be fun, like lime green and pink or something so they can each have a color!
Ask the kids for their input. See what they would like. I still think their bedrooms are suited for them. Wait until they get a little older then you won't have to do it again when they get to be teenagers. Believe me that will happen sooner then you think. Addison will be 13 in a week. I would change the bathroom before the bedrooms. One step at a time. I want to redo Ada's room too. But , I ask myself if I am pushing her to move to the next phase. She is my baby - FOREVER!
Ask the kids see what they would like. Oh and if Ellie what's a new room you can always sell the old stuff to me (hehehe) They bathroom needs a new update try a sea shell look of a ocean/nautical look.
What cute rooms your kids have. They are lucky to have such a creative mom. I like your idea of making Ellie's room bright pink with flowers and butterflies. I think that would be cute and pretty easy to do. I'm not sure about what I would do with Logan's...let me think and i will let you know if anything comes to me. As for the bathroom, I've seen some really cute ones with frogs, since everyone does fish. You could also just paint it one color and then do big polka dots or something like that all around...good luck. Whatever you do make sure you show us the results!
Why does it not surpise me that Ellie's room is all porcelain dolls??? I remember holding some of those when I was little and would come visit you at your house. I agree to let the kids pick a theme. Even if it is a little "immature" you can always do a twist to their suggestion. You can totally sell the duck stuff on Craigslist. My mother-in-law has a total duck bathroom (most of the same stuff) and she bought most of her stuff off cragislist. I will send you some pics of some bedrooms that I fell in love with when I was house hunting. (ya, I took pics cuz I am just like that :)
Good luck! Let's see the progress!!!
Oh - you are so talented. All those rooms looks so cute. I don't think Logan's room needs a change - boys and trucks will go a long way. And I was thinking the same things as Brianne - I just saw some cute Frog stuff for a bathroom. And for girls I personally love the pink and brown that is out there right now. I also think it is something that can grow with her. Erin J. in our ward just painted her nursery adorable with those colors.
Man, you've got some ambitious friends with great ideas! Me? I would leave it all as is until they start asking for a change. I think mid-elementary they'll want to personalize things anyway... And I like your fun bathroom. Let 'em be kids for awhile!! Then again, I'm a tight-wad and Jer does all our decorating, so what do I know?!
