And a little child shall lead them????

So, a little background here. We have been having a bit of a rough time with our female child. Some kind of LOVELY stage she must be going through!!! I'll spare you the details. As a result of these recent challenges, Darin and I have been on the lookout for good books or suggestions. We've pulled out "The power of positive parenting" gigantic book, and Darin also borrowed a book from his mom, "Christlike Parenting". Both book are by author, Glenn Latham. Well, the kids have both thumbed through the bigger book, as it's sitting on the end table in the family room. But here's the funny part--Ellie has had the smaller, hardback book of "Christlike Parenting" in her bedroom for a couple of days, and Darin has seen it around the house. Out of the blue thismorning Ellie tells me, "Mom, I read in a book that you should never tell a child what they already know." HELLO!!!!!! Maybe she just needs to tell me how to parent her!!! I think she said it because I had asked her more than once to get dressed. So do I just keep letting her read the books??? I am baffled......and laughing my head off!!!

What is it about girls? I have been searching for good parenting books so I can "deal" with my lovely daughter! I love that Ellie is reading it herself. She will be a wonderful mother.

Well, children may indeed already know lots of things but they certainly might need reminding that they know it. Right? Larry's suggestion is to check out some out-of-date books on parenting...the ones that talk about such horrors as spanking and the like...leave it out for Ellie to read. Then she'll realize what sweet, loving, adorable parents she has and be more amiable!
