I am only going to blog an abbreviated version of this trip with my sisters. We'll be printing an entire scrapbook of the week...lots to do for that project. So just a brief blogging for the rest of the fam for now. On the first day, we arrived at the Seattle airport before 8:00 AM, ready to play. We spent the morning at Pike's Marketplace, buying fruit and seafood, flowers, and surprises to take home to the kids. And of course eating clam chowder. Then it was on to the ferry.

After settling in at the "Cottage", we took a stroll through The Grand Forest, and then out on the Point White Pier. Since we were celebrating and remembering our mom and our childhood, a game of "Mother May I" was in order on the pier.
After a fab dinner Cafe Rio style, it was time for the planned event of the evening. "The memories of Mom Extravaganza" complete with "Winnie Awards". The night was hilarious to the tenth degree. One in a million for sure. We each had to have a costume representing a memory of Mom, a talent honoring or remembering Mom, and an award to give to someone else, in memory of Mom. Judy dressed in one of Moms actual nightgowns, one she had saved, hair in curlers, glasses on, reading a book with chocolate bar in hand. For her talent she had made a video of our Mom and many of her favorite things. That video did bring out the emotional side of us that evening. But over-all we were laughing so hard all night I am amazed nobody peed their pants. Did they? Shari wore a ballerina costume with a HUGE cheese-bun head-piece. This represented her memories of living in Canada. Mom would take her to ballet lessons and stop at the bakery for cheese buns on the way home. Happy childhood memories for Shari, all wrapped up in her very unique costume. For her talent she read some of her poetry that was published recently, representing mom. Amy wore a home made costume constructed from "Simplicity" sewing patterns, representing the lifetime our mom spent sewing, as well as how she lived a simplified life. For her talent, Amy did a dance to Barbara Streisand's, "Sam, you made the pants too long". This is the very dance she used to do as a child and early teen. She once performed it in a ward talent show when she was about 12 years old. Mom loved it!!! We all loved it!! Rachel's costume was a nightgown she made to replicate one we all remember our mom wearing, complete with curlers in her hair. She used fabric in the same aqua blue we remember. For her talent she turned on the DVD and danced to Sesame Street's "Doin' the Pigeon" staring Burt, just like Mom used to. Mom loved that Sesame song and we all remember her doing her little leg dance just like Burt. Naomi's costume was so far beyond funny. But alas, I CANNOT post a picture of it on this blog. Nor will I describe the actions that went along with the costume. Some of the best memories are just for family. Which is seriously too bad. For her talent, she showed us all how Mom used to savor her chocolate bars by licking and sucking them like a lollipop. As for my costume....well it IS appropriate to post a picture of online. But it will have to wait for a post and explanation of it's own a little bit later. My talent was my old standby--a poem. I will also post the poem with my later blog post of the picture. I know you all cannot wait!!
What a riot!!! We sure did have a unique, amazing, individual for a Mom. I am certain she was also laughing her head off up in Heaven, as she looked down on what we were doing!!
