This will be the first of several posts about the past five days spent with five of my sisters. For five days we celebrated and remembered our mom. For three of those days we were on Bainbridge Island, at my sisters home, our "Cottage By The Sea" that Mom always longed for. This place is magic. Tranquil. Perfect. And all of us are jealous that Shari lives here.
Shari thought of every little detail and it was truly a "Bed and Breakfast" retreat. I shared the "Seaside View" my favorite room, with Naomi. She had fresh flowers, homemade Bainbridge blackberry jam, and chocolates waiting for each of us in our rooms.
There were also pictures of my mom everywhere. In each bathroom, and every bedroom. On the coffee tables and side tables, and all along the window sills. With tiny little vintage bottles and fresh little flowers.
Flowers all over the house, inside and out. Our mom loved flowers. Our mom loved us. And it was amazing and hilarious, and meaningful, and happy and tearful to spend these days with some of my sisters, remembering the elect lady we call "Mom". This week together marked the ten year anniversary of our moms death.
More posts to come about how we celebrated for five days. Thank you over and over to Shari for visualizing and making this week happen for us. A once in a lifetime experience. I love you Shari!!!
